Our new Mini Bar Hangers (1287-10) extend from 9” to 15-1/4”; ideal for fitting between 12” and 16” spaced joists. These contain all the features of our Premium 1287 Bar Hangers, except they are smaller as to fit smaller joist spaces.
Bar hanger extenders
Also new are our Bar Hanger Extenders*. Maintaining the same formed cross-section of our Premium Bar Hangers, the extenders fit between each bar hanger half, offering much increased capacity.
The Bar Hanger Extenders are available in two sizes; the mini extenders (1287-50) & maxi extenders (1287-60). Like the bar hangers, there are stops to prevent them from slipping apart, yet if necessary, this can be overcome with a solid tug.
The diagram below shows the bar hangers coupled with the extenders. Minimum spans are shown in green, and the maximums in yellow and orange. The yellow illustrates the maximum spans at the second set of stops, where there is approximately 2” of overlap at each joint, offering good rigidity. The orange illustrates the ultimate extension at the first set of stops, reducing the overlap to 1”. Rigidity is compromised somewhat at such extremes, but squeezing the joints once the assembly is extended improves this, offering an extreme solution that would have otherwise been impossible.
