Frequently Asked Questions

What is drawn and deep drawn metal stamping?

Draw stamping is a sheet metal forming process used to create three dimensional forms using a press and a custom die. When the depth exceeds the diameter of the part, it's known as deep drawing, making it ideal for cups, cans, enclosures, and complex hollow components.

Can you redesign a part for drawing and deep drawing stamping?

Absolutely, we help clients less familiar with these processes and from metal spinning when the volumes reach thousands a year.

What about metal spinning vs drawn metal stamping?

Metal spinning is great but limited to round shapes (think of a pot), whereas drawing & deep drawing does not have this limitation. Dimensional accuracy & surface finish are also much better. Deep drawn stamping is a more versatile, offers faster production, better consistency, and lower unit costs than metal spinning. However, you do need enough volumes to justify a die.

What are your tooling lead times?

Draw & deep draw tooling can be quite complex, thus tooling lead times vary from 8 to 16 weeks (sometimes more) depending on part size and complexity.

What volumes do you support?

Drawn metal stamping is typically used for thousands to millions of units annually.

Do you offer free shipping?

Absolutely! We offer free shipping on volume orders (conditions apply.) Please contact us to see if your business is eligible for this offer.
