Tripar in the 2020s: Writing History While Making It

As we reflect on Tripar’s 75th anniversary in 2024, we find ourselves in a unique position – writing history while living it. And though this decade’s story is still unfolding, Tripar’s achievements in these first few years already tell a compelling story of where we are heading.

The 2020s poses a question: How does a 75-year-old family business stay ahead in an ever-evolving industry? Our answer comes from our strategic growth, making bold investments, and our unwavering commitment to our clients, employees, suppliers, and to innovation – all while honoring the foundational values that brought us here.

Always Growing

As business is ever-evolving, standing still means falling behind. That’s why in the last 5 years alone, we’ve transformed our shop by investing millions in the latest CNC machines. Each new investment brings new capabilities to serve our clients better.

Our journey into the 2020s began with the development of The Shutter™ Plaster Frames (Patent No: US 11,085,615 B2) in 2021 – the first of its kind; a plaster frame for recessed luminaires that is almost universal by virtue of having adjustable hole openings. This has an interesting product development story

In 2022, we added three Trumpf TruPunch 1000 CNC punch presses, significantly increasing our CNC metal fabrication capabilities.

In 2023 and to further increase our metal fabrication capabilities, Tripar took delivery of an Amada HG 1003 ATC Automated Press Break. What makes this so special? Besides extreme accuracy and 6-axes, this contains an automatic tool changer, reducing set-up time from what would often take between one half to one hour (or more for complex set-ups) – down to one minute or less!

In early 2024, we unveiled yet another cool innovative product for recessed luminaires; the first-ever Trapezoid shaped Insulated Ceiling (IC) Boxes. What makes this so special? Traditional IC Boxes are shaped like shoeboxes; so you can only stack them on top of one another, making for wasteful shipping and storage. We asked ourselves if there is a better way? Voila, slope all four sides so they nest within 1” of another. See new product bulletin. *Patent pending.

Strategic Leadership Growth

In 2023, we made two important and well-deserved appointments, I appointed Lauren as Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) and Andrew as Chief Operating Officer (COO). For more background on Lauren and Andrew see their stories in 2010s. These promotions not only represent leadership growth, but a commitment to Tripar’s future as we transition to the next generation. This positions us for continued growth and success.

Honoring Ben

This period coincided in both celebration and loss. In May 2023, we celebrated Ben’s 100th birthday. Our founder’s century of life represented the values that built Tripar: innovation, perseverance, and family. Sadly, on April 15, 2024, my Dad and Tripar’s founder passed away – nearly reaching the age of 101! His legacy lives on.

Looking Forward

October 2024 marked another significant advancement. Tripar took delivery of a Trumpf Trulaser 1030 CNC laser, large format (5’ x 10′ sheet capacity) with full automation; our first with automatic sheet loading, unloading, and part conveying. Between its cutting speed and its automation, this expands our CNC fabrication capabilities with vastly improved efficiency.

To celebrate our 75th anniversary, we will gather with our extended Tripar family for a special evening at a local reception hall before Christmas, honoring both Tripar’s history but also the dedicated people who continue to make Tripar exceptional.

Towards the end of 2024, and after a long (> 1 year) urban planning process which required zoning changes from the city, Tripar obtained permission to expand onto the remainder of its current lot. Now that we are in the driver’s seat on this, and have a three-year window to begin construction (municipal ruling), a full study will be undertaken to determine if or when this 30,000 square foot expansion may take place.

This journey from 1949 to 2024 has been a remarkable one, but I believe the best is yet to come. We are looking forward to and planning out our next 75 years of growth.

To our amazing Tripar family, friends and supporters, thank you for joining us down this very long road, and we hope that you will join us until the 100th and beyond!

Fondly,

Lloyd Sevack
President, Tripar Inc
